This poem seeks to express the inexpressible in honoring those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in the Battle of Iwo Jima, as it honors those who carry on the legacy of the US Marine Corps. Set against the Arlington National Cemetery, where the burdens of war are preserved and echoed for today, and for future generations.
